An announcement from Home Bargains earlier in the day has turned out to be a joke for April Fools. The much loved Liverpool icon, Home Bargains, will not be changing its name back to 'Home and Bargain'.

'Being called "Home and Bargain" 26 years on is like having the same nickname you had in school stick with you for the rest of your life.' - Home Bargains in a post on Twitter.

The well known discount shop, Home Bargains, earlier this morning announced that it was chaning its name back to Home & Bargain which it was known as prior to its 1995 re-branding.

The company posted on Twitter at 12:01pm, exactly 12 hours after the original post onto the social media platform, that it was an April Fools joke.

Home Bargains said: 'April Fools', followed by a clown emoji. They added: 'We're sticking with "Home Bargains"'.

With the name of the company before the re-brand being still the frequently used term to refer to the company in the Liverpool City Region, they acknowledged it by saying in their Tweet: 'Being called "Home and Bargain" 26 years on is like having the same nickname you had in school stick with you for the rest of your life!'

They took the notion of Liverpudlians still using their original name to refer to the shop lightheartedly by adding in their post: 'Hope you had a giggle and enjoyed our retro shopfront.'

Knowing that this would be reminiscent for many, they concluded: 'A real blast from the past.'
