The Merchants, the Liverpool-based band, announce the release of 'My Name', first track of their debut EP titled 'Thugs and Thieves'. The single is available on all major streaming platforms from the 19th of May 2023.

The release was followed by a headline hometown show at Jimmy’s Liverpool on the 3rd of June in Liverpool City Centre.

The band's lineup consists of Harry Bowness (Lead Singer & Rhythm Guitarist), Harry Strachan (Drummer) and Ernesto Sandoval (Lead Guitarist), and Joe Abraham (Bassist).

'I’m really excited to see what these guys are coming up with' - Dave Monks, BBC Introducing Merseyside.

'My Name' showcases the band’s energetic ‘in your face sound’ driven by loud yet tight drums, punchy bass lines and carefully crafted guitar riffs topped with Harry’s husky vocals.

The Merchants were first introduced to the Liverpool music scene in late 2019, when supporting The Mysterines along with Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard.

They have since been championed by BBC Introducing Merseyside, sold out two home-town shows, had their single ‘Castro’ featured on the soundtrack of ‘Kick out the Jams’ documentary about XFM, made appearances in local festivals and shared the stage with the likes of ZUZU, Natalie McCool, The Peach Fuzz and STONE, proving to be worthy of the currently booming local music scene in Liverpool.

Dave Monks, from BBC Introducing Merseyside, who has hosted The Merchants for performances at his own gigs such as in The Cavern Club, said: 'I’m really excited to see what these guys are coming up with.'

You can listen to 'My Name' through all major steaming services such as Spotify and Apple Music.
