Sips opens this January in Liverpool City Centre. Located on Slater Street at the junction of Bold Street in the Ropewalks part of town the site has housed some well known names over the past 20 years, particularly in its original form as Bar Red.

Typically over the years it retained a reputation as a late night and after-hours venue with the bulk of trade being between 3am-6am. However, now in the post covid era, and witnessing a shift in hospitality and the way people go out to socialise the new owners have chosen to create a more warm and welcoming brand that has a wider mass appeal and is inviting from much earlier in the afternoons and early evenings.

Sips is the latest addition to the Movement Group Ltd portfolio, who currently operate well known and established venues Ink Bar on Wood Street, and Pure Night Lounge on Back Colquitt Street.

Director of Movement Group, Carl Hindley, said: “We wanted to create something different to our other bar/nightclub offerings and have created a space that is versatile for both the day time and a night time trade.

Carl added: “We will tap into the thriving live music scene here in Liverpool to showcase young up and coming talent in a relaxed and comfortable setting and also host some of Liverpool’s best known DJ’s to provide a Groovy Soul, Funk & Disco soundtrack.”

He said: “Sips is a modern, bright and inviting space that is suitable to a wide ranging clientele and demographic. A place that is suitable for some post-shopping drinks, early evening cocktails and also to the late night clientele with Live Music and DJ's playing after 7pm.”

Carl, said: “We have created a quirky and creative new cocktail menu designed by well known local consultant Craig Cavanagh. Also lined up are some exciting collaborations with some established brands and event promoters for the Spring & Summer.  We are really excited to be introducing the Sips brand to Liverpool's already bustling hospitality scene and hope to become a firm favourite and staple of peoples weekend for many years to come.”

After a full refurbishment, which included a new roof being fitted at the site, it is now finally time to launch Sips this Winter. There will be an Invitation only launch event on Friday 31st January from 8pm. The bar will then officially open to the public from midday on Saturday 1st February 2025.

Over 10 new jobs have been created at Sips with potentially more to follow later in the year.
