The Liverpool City Region's skyline has been evolving for hundreds of years. From as early as Birkenhead Priory's founding during the Medieval Period in 1150, through to the development of the Royal Liver Building as Europe's tallest building at the time, to these emerging high-rise structures that welcome those that visit the city from afar.

In this image, the focus is two new high rise.tower buildings. On the left, is the 15-storey Plaza 1821 Building, and to the right is The Lexington which reaches 35-storeys tall. Both are apartment buildings with commercial space on the ground floors.

Peaking through in the centre gap of the two high-rise buildings in the forefront, is the 8-storey 101 Old Hall Street, constructed in 2003 which is home to the Liverpool Branch of HM Passport Office (the building with the green windows is 101 Hall Street).

Stretching above 101 Old Hall Street, in the distance with the pale blue windows, is 100 Hall Street, however, it is better known as The Plaza Building. It was originally known as The Sir John Moores Building, named after the founder of the retail giant, Littlewoods, for which this building, upon finishing construction in 1965 was used as its headquarters in the City Centre.

They are situated on Princes Dock in Liverpool Waters, located on Liverpool Waterfront, making them some of the first buildings that greet visitors when approaching Liverpool City Centre via Ferry, Steam Packet Ship or through a Cruise Ship.
