Liverpool leaders joined those worldwide who offered their congratulations to Joe Biden and Kamala Harris; from City Mayors to Presidents and Prime Ministers. Major cities in the US and the UK, like Liverpool and London, had their mayors welcome the US Election winners, alongside other world leaders and heads of state.


Liverpool City Region Mayor, Steve Rotheram

The Liverpool Metropolitan Area mayor wished the US Election winners congratulations with an uplifting message: 'What a breath of fresh air it will be @JoeBiden and @KamalaHarris'. He added: 'Hope for under-represented groups everywhere. Hope for a better world.'

Mayor Anderson praised the duo through Twitter: 'The USA has decided and Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have won'. He added: 'The work starts now to unify a polarised Country. If you are from a black or minority background you can now BREATHE again, this President & VP will heal and represent the values that once made the USA [a] great leader.'

The news comes after it was projected by The Associated Press (AP) that Joe Biden would be the winner of the 2020 US Presidential Election on Saturday 7th November 2020, after taking a substantial lead in Pennsylvania.
