Liverpool-based band, Paint Me In Colour, have released their latest single, 'Ugly', which is now available on streaming platforms such as Spotify and Apple Music.

The Liverpool-based 4-piece band, Paint Me In Colour, comprises of Olivia Springer, Sam Pierpoint, Matt Johnson and George Higgins.

'I wanted to write a song that tackles all of the messed up ideologies of modern society which we’re expected to live up to'. - Liv Springer, the front woman of Paint Me In Colour.

Their previous single ‘Pity Me’ was reminiscent of nostalgic 90’s guitar hooks and colossal and larger than life drum sounds. The single earned the achievement of being backed by BBC Radio 1, as well as by BBC Introducing and Gigwise.

Paint Me In Colour's latest track ‘Ugly’, however, is in contrast to their previous release. It is packed with anthemic vocals and ambient hooks. It takes inspiration from alternative artists Kid Kapichi and The Amazon’s, who the band count as recent influences on their sound, as well as indie icons, Nothing But Thieves.

Talking about how they met and how they have evolved as a band since then, they explained: 'People say we’re different but we just try to keep it exciting'. The Liverpool-based band, whose sound has evolved from classic indie numbers to incorporating 'spangly guitars, nostalgic hooks, and distorted grooves', first met at college and through mutual friends, their chemistry sparked from the first rehearsal and they have only grown from strength to strength since. The front woman of the band, Liv Springer, explains: 'I wanted to write a song that tackles all of the messed up ideologies of modern society which we’re expected to live up to'. She added: 'We've landed on a sound that we’re truly proud of'.
