Leading Liverpool City Region Venues, The Mean-Eyed Cat & Tiki Hideaway, Launches For The Summer Season Where Stag And Hen Parties Get A Very Warm Red Carpet Welcome
After enjoying huge success since its opening in February 2023, The Mean-Eyed Cat Bar, situated on Seel Street in the popular East Village area of Liverpool City Centre, was soon joined by its sister brand — The Tiki Hideaway.
The Mean-Eyed Cat, a dive-style bar inspired by Johnny Cash, is home to some of the very best in music, food and drinks. They make their offerings even more irresistible by providing free homemade pizzas with every drink ordered before 9pm.
The adjacent Tiki Hideaway is a 1950's-inspired Polynesian paradise, packed with rum, fun, cocktails and dancing until sunrise.
When Liverpool recently played host to Eurovision 2023, more than half a million guests showed up to celebrate in the Liverpool City Region, which was five times the predicted figures of how many people the City was expecting to welcome.
'We have been super-busy across both venues since we opened, and Eurovision was an even better trading period than we could have predicted. With guests travelling from all over the nation, and around the globe, we know that many of the guests will return to take in more of the city when they are planning their next city break.' - Spokesperson for The Mean-Eyed Cat Bar, Phil Harrison.
As a result of the welcome shown in the City Region, the accommodation on offer and the nighttime venues such as The Mean-Eyed Cat Bar and the Tiki Hideaway, it has been estimated that Liverpool could host up to one in five Stag and Hen parties in 2024* - the most in Europe - which could be worth up to £40 million boost to the Liverpool City Region’s economy. These incredible figures come from industry leader Matt Mavir of Last Night of Freedom, from an article that The Liverpudlian has previously published.
With both bars now well-established with an array of returning guests, the Trip Advisor and online reviews are also reflective of their experiences. One reviewer who visited both The Mean-Eyed Cat Bar, and then entered The Tiki Hideaway, said: 'Best place I have found! We got a free pizza with every drink between 5-9. Not frozen pizza either, proper hand-made and hand-stretched dough. Really tasty, vegan and gluten-free also. Cocktails were tasty and boss. Decent music played, staff were really great and warm - proper made you feel welcome. After 9pm we entered the Tiki bar behind the main bar- what a lovely hidden gem. Will be returning again and again!”
Another guest added about The Mean-Eyed Cat Bar: ‘Came here for my 21st celebrations with my boyfriend, and I had so much fun. The staff were very cheerful and lovely, even on a busy Saturday night! The cocktails were creative and fun, and the pizza was delicious! I will definitely be back.'
And one happy Tiki Hideaway guest suggests: 'Cool bar, great staff, good music, and the secret Tiki bar has a vibe! Good choice of cocktails and deals.'
As well as catering to regular guests, each venue now offers a curated list of extra packages which have already been enjoyed by a whole host of parties, from baby showers celebrations, to sports awards celebrations, to birthdays and stag and hen parties.
For party goers who like to stay where the action is but want a VIP flavour, both The Mean-Eyed Cat Bar and The Tiki Hideaway offer booth packages where you can order from extensive drinks menus to create your own party flavour. The Tiki Hideaway even offers its own special Dead Man’s Chest, a swashbuckling sharing cocktail for outrageous celebrations.
Both venues also specialise in Cocktail Masterclasses, which are increasingly popular with Stag and Hen Parties as they are the perfect way to start off the party, and keep it going! At £25 per person, each guest receives a free welcome drink, the making of two cocktails and an extra shot to top off the evening.
'It is also important to us that we offer great value: cocktails classes are an absolute steal at £25 per person, and there are no upfront hire costs'. - Spokesperson for The Mean-Eyed Cat Bar, Phil Harrison.
The Cocktail Masterclasses based in Surfers Cove in The Tiki Hideaway are available on a Saturday afternoon, so are popular with hen parties, especially when the team at The Mean-Eyed Cat Bar send over some free homemade pizza!
The Tiki Hideaway is really going for it for those who really want to party in style. The private-hire Beach Hut is a semi-private space for up to 15 guests, which enables party goers to enjoy an exclusive space whilst enjoying the atmosphere of the main bar. This space has proved a real hit with stag and hen parties due to its size.
The Surfer’s Cove is also a private-hire space which accommodates up to 60 guests, has its own sound system, with private bar and bartender included. There are pre-booked drink and food packages available, with just a small deposit and no minimum spend required, making it a great value party venue.
Thier popular signature cocktails offer competitive pricing married with creativity. The Island Inspiration Frozen Pina Colada is a huge hit: a timeless masterpiece based a blend of Rum and innovative ingredients such as cream of coconut, it is matched by the Tiki Classic Beachcomber, a notorious concoction matching Rum Blend, Wray & Nephew, and a whole host of mixes to create something truly special.
Spokesperson for The Mean-Eyed Cat Bar, Phil Harrison, adds: 'We have been super-busy across both venues since we opened, and Eurovision was an even better trading period than we could have predicted. With guests travelling from all over the nation, and around the globe, we know that many of the guests will return to take in more of the city when they are planning their next city break.'
He said: 'We have welcomed all sorts of parties, from every type of demographic, and we are delighted that as well as regular guests we have the facilities, experts and resources across both venues to offer such a fantastic range of private parties, semi-private spaces and our hugely popular cocktail masterclasses.'
Phil said: 'Both of our venues have a really laid-back vibe, where guests can relax and party, and our staff are trained to our own rigorous standards, so that every guest and group are looked after in style. We know from feedback that stag and hen parties really appreciate the chance to have a private party or semi-private space, as well as the chance to mix their own cocktails before they party.'
He added: 'It is also important to us that we offer great value: cocktails classes are an absolute steal at £25 per person, and there are no upfront hire costs, which allows us to stay ahead of the competition.'
Phil conculded: 'As a team we are looking forward to an even busier Summer, and we are delighted that the predictions for 2024 look so outstanding. Less than a year after opening The Mean-Eyed Cat Bar, and then our Tiki Hideaway, we have already carved out our own space, and anticipate a rise in our guest numbers based on the two unique experiences on offer — all partygoers are welcome, and stag and hen parties are very much included on our Guest List.'
Matt Mavir, Managing Director of Last Night of Freedom, who has helped to organise over 45,000 Stag and Hen trips, said: 'Liverpool is already firmly established as part of the industry’s 'holy trinity' of destinations, alongside Newcastle and Benidorm.'
