Award-winning housebuilder Bellway has donated £500 to St Thomas’ Church in Lydiate to help with the installation of screens.

Located on Church Lane, the Anglican parish is a huge part of the village and serves the whole community, continually looking at ways to improve and evolve.

Keen to update the parish, Rev Susan Salt contacted Bellway regarding the project, asking for a donation to enable screens to be installed in the church to enhance worship for its parishioners.

The screens would also help the church better support the pupils of St Thomas’ Primary school, also in Lydiate, with which it has strong links, when they come to services and for educational visits.

Rector at St Thomas’ Church, Rev Susan Salt, says: 'The installation of the screens within the church is estimated to cost £5,000.  We are delighted with Bellway’s generous donation of £500, which has kick started our fundraising.  We hope to secure the rest of the money in the coming months so that we can install the screens as soon as possible, greatly improving the experience for our parishioners.'

Jenny Bell, Sales Director at Bellway, said: 'We have worked with a number of local groups and organisations in Lydiate and are always happy to help the community close to our developments, with Lydiate Gate just a short distance from St Thomas’ Church.'

Jenny added: 'When Rev Susan Salt contacted us, we were thrilled to donate to this project.  St Thomas’ Church is very much an essential part of the village and they are so welcoming, offering support to the local community, including residents at Lydiate Gate.  We wish them well with the rest of their fundraising.'

Bellway’s Lydiate Gate development is located on Liverpool Road. There is currently a selection of three and four bedroom homes available, with prices starting from £299,995. For further information, you can visit Bellway's website.
