A History of 43 Jamaica Street In Liverpool's The Baltic Triangle Neighbourhood
It is important to take time to appreciate the old buildings of the Liverpool City Region. This is 43 Jamaica Street, a gorgeous 3-storey building situated in The Baltic Triangle neighbourhood of Liverpool City Centre.
The building is nestled on the corner of Jamaica Street and Brick Street. The front of the building beholds the entrace to Jamaica Street, the most central street that runs through the whole of The Baltic Triangle neighbourhood. It has an old arching exterior front door trim with curved slabs overhead. The side of the building runs along Brick Street with the perimiter wall behind the building on this side protecting the City Centre Sheds work yard.
The building is part of the site that is owned and operated by a company called City Centre Sheds that have been operating for 35 years at the current date of writing (2023), with their head office is located in the Liverpool Borough of Sefon in Netherton.
The ground floor of 43 Jamaica Street was home to the indie radio station, Melodic Distraction, for almost 4 years before there were issues surrounding the landlords only offering short-term leases which left the MD crew feeling uncertain of their future. They have since moved to Kempton Street in the Fabric Distric on the other end of town to a space that can offer them long-term stability, as well as a larger venue space that they have turned into the Melodic Bar.
